Archival Footage of Ingrid and Roberto with the Twins

I have just come across an article that was written in 1954 and re-published this Oct. 14 (2010).

The article and video that is attached are really interesting!

There is footage of Ingrid and Roberto presenting the twins, Ingrid Rossellini and Isabella Rossellini to the public.

Green Porno 3: Bon Appetit

Ingrid's daughter, Isabella Rossellini (whom I also adore), has recently released her 3rd and finale series of the Sundance Channel's online series, Green Porno. This one is called "Green Porno 3: Bon Appetit"

This time Isabella discusses the effects of the fishing industry on the eco system, the planet and animals. It's enough to make you stop eating seafood for a while. She joins up with marine biologist Dr. Claudio Campagna, who gives a tutorial at the end of each segment.

I enjoy all of the Green Porno series--they have each had their own vibe. I'd have to say that season 1 and season 3 are my favorites. I still LOVE the Bee!

Mother-Daughter-Granddaughter

I'll willingly admit to spamming people on twitter to try and get them to read this blog. But I do it with precision. I only go after people tweeting about Ingrid Bergman or Classic Film. They have a choice--to come and go as they please--if the blog is included, then YAY me! :)

One tweet, in particular, caught my eye. It was posted by @glamourbylbd and said "Ingrid Bergman, Isabella Rossellini and Elettra Weidemann http://shar.es/Lq05." So I check it out.

It's this really cool article on Delamina.com, a fashion website, about the beauty, tradition and style of the three generations of, let's call them, "Rossellinis." The article discusses the sustainability of the family and the differences between the generations. Incredibly interesting and I suggest checking it out.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY INGRID! :)

It's the big day. A bittersweet celebration for all of us Ingrid Bergman fans.

Today marks the 94th anniversary of the birth of Ingrid Bergman as well as the 27th anniversary of her death.

In case you weren't aware, Ingrid Bergman died on her 67th birthday (not assuming you can't do math or decipher the previous statement, it's merely a lead in. lol).

Ingrid Freidel Bergman was born in Stockholm, Sweden on August 29th, 1915 to Justus and Freidel Bergman. Her mother died when she was 3 and her father died when she was 12. Though Ingrid faced personal troubles most of her life, she prospered into the --insert heavy opinion-- BEST actress of all time.

Ingrid loved acting more than anything. She loved the work, the feeling, the escape, the beauty, the families and every other aspect. She devoted her life to the art. This, of course, wasn't easy for many to understand and left many by the way side.

Ingrid's daughter, Pia, once described her mother as a "train on train tracks" claiming that once Ingrid made up her mind to do something, get on board or get out of the way.

I love this about Ingrid. No apologies. Just hard work.

Ingrid made over 50 films during her time on this earth. I often think of her as my guardian angel, or at least my guide through life. Whenever I can't figure something out I say "W.W.I.D.?" "What would Ingrid do?"

Even if it's outlandish or ridiculous, it can at least make me laugh. Plus, I think Ingrid would have understood this mentality. She looked to Joan of Arc in the same way (and probably would have blogged about it if technology had warranted such a task).

She is an eternal icon. Her face is captured for eternity in film, photographs and words. We know her voice and her looks, long after she has left us.

I am glad to have known Ingrid, if only through books, film and television. I am grateful for the communities of people she has guided me to (chances are, that's you I'm referring to, since you're reading my blog, lol.). I wish I had known her. Even if she were not the Ingrid I have built in my head, I'd still want it. Her ability to be an iconic star and yet so human is what draws me to her. Not to mention her spirit and insanely amazing acting ability.

Ingrid lived many ups and downs. In her films, her career and her life. This is what we celebrate here @ Ingrid Bergman Life and Films and I thank you all for your support.

It is amazing that she lived a full circled life. She entered and exited like a true actress; with grace, dignity and a performance no one will ever forget.

KINGA RULES!!

Kinga has sent me a copy of A Matter of Time! I'm incredibly grateful for this outreach and generosity. I haven't been able to locate this film and Kinga had a copy, made a copy and sent it to me duty free! The DVD works and I am just now beginning to watch this film for the first time in English! I had seen clips in Italian, but this is fantastic to finally get to see it as it was filmed and as Ingrid worked on it.

Though I am aware that this film wasn't well received and that it's probably going to be pretty silly, I am still pumped. I also can't wait to see Isabella in her premier as well as Ingrid Isotta's makeup job!

I'll let you know what I think about the film itself later--after I finish watching it!

Elena et les Hommes

I am watching An American In Paris right now with Sarah's parents, Susan and Claude. This movie is a fantastic post war musical. It's full of familiar tunes, Gene Kelly dances and Leslie Caron appears for the first time on the big screen. This film is directed by Vincent Minnelli and won 7 oscars.

Now onto the Ingrid connection:

I want to mention a 1956 Jean Renoir film that Ingrid starred in, Elena et les Hommes or Elena and Her Men. I love this film. It is constant hilarity. Ingrid co-stars with Mel Ferrer (Audrey Hepburn's husband at the time) and it is a must see.

I bring this up because it too takes place in France. It was actually shot in France toward the end of Ingrid's "Rossellini period"...if we want to call it that. Audrey Hepburn was starring in Funny Face at the same time. She actually required that the scenes in Paris be shot while her husband was shooting his film so they could be together.

Though Ingrid had no affiliation with An American In Paris or the studios in the States at the time, she later had an affiliation with Vincent Minnelli. Ingrid starred in (the less than successful) A Matter of Time with Liza Minnelli. Isabella Rossellini also makes an appearance in this film! The story apparently did not carry well and it was eventually looked as Ingrid's excuse to hang out with her daughters (Ingrid Rossellini did Ingrid Bergman's makeup for this film).

I have only seen snip-its of A Matter of Time and some of them were in Italian, but I hope to see it in its entirety some day.

Just thought I'd link some of my classic film watching to Ingrid--of course! It's kind of like 6 degrees of separation--just 6 degrees of Ingrid. Lol

I suggest you check out Elena et Les Hommes and if you find A Matter of Time, please let me know where to get my grubby-Bergman-lovin'- fan-hands on it! :)

Ingrid in Parade

Really Isabella is in Parade magazine talking about how to do "sex talk" with children. She mentions her mother, Ingrid Bergman, saying--

Her mother's best advice.
"My mom had a frugality and a simplicity and a down-to-Earthness that maybe was due to the fact that she was Swedish. But it was also her mom's personality. She taught me to have her simplicity and directness and that's what I admired most in her."

Ingrid's Girls

Isabella Rossellini premiered her Green Porno 2 series at the IFC Theatre in New York. Along with many others, her half-sister Pia Lindstrom was there to celebrate Isabella's work with the Sundance Channel.


I think it's remarkable the resemblance Ingrid Bergman's children have to her even to this day. They all embody different aspects of her looks and work.

I think they have continued a wonderful legacy. Though Isabella's work is usually a little crazy, at least compared to a lot of mainstream work as well as her sister Pia's reporting for New York City news channels and theatre reviews.

I thoroughly enjoy Isabella's work (obviously) and I'm sure Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini as well as Isabella's step parents and siblings would be and are proud of her accomplishments.

So for the near future, Isabella Rossellini will probably appear in the blog quite often. She is launching her new season of Green Porno, so she has lots to say and I have a lot to report.

I'm not sure how Ingrid and Roberto would have felt about this venture their daughter has sought out, but it is informative and entertaining, two things Isabella's parents seemed to value!
